Graduation

Attention Spring Graduates

If you are completing your degree requirements with the 2013 Spring Semester, you are eligible to apply for graduation.

Requirements:

  • Have all degree requirements completed or complete degree requirements this semester or the summer.  (For General Requirements, Specific Requirements, Guarantee Program, and Honor Graduates information, see the "Graduation at SPC" section in the General Catalog.) 
  • Visit with your program advisor.
  • Have a cumulative GPA of at least a 2.00 (“C”) or better.
  • Complete graduation application (no application fee required).

DEADLINE: March 1, 2013 

To apply for graduation:

  1. If you are a currently enrolled SPC student, click here to login to MySPC and complete the Online Graduation Application.
  2. If you are NOT currently enrolled, complete the Graduation Application and submit by email to speterman@southplainscollege.edu or mail to:

Commencement Exercises

South Plains College holds commencement exercises once a year in May. The 55th annual commencement ceremony is set for Friday, May 10, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. in the Texan Dome. Graduates are required to participate in commencement exercises unless they are given permission to graduate in absentia. 

Graduates must report to the Physical Education Complex (located on the east side of the Texan Dome) no later than 9:00 a.m. on Friday for distribution of name cards and line-up preparation. Students who are late will be placed at the end of the line.

 

Orientation

Graduates are required to attend orientation unless they are given permission to graduate in absentia. After the student submits application for graduation, the student will receive an orientation invitation via email. Orientation for the 53rd annual commencement ceremony is set for Tuesday, April 30, 2012, at 12:15 p.m. in the Texan Dome.

 

Caps and Gowns

Caps and Gowns are distributed immediately after orientation.

 

Photographs and Videos

While friends and family are welcome to take pictures during the ceremony, only graduates will be allowed on the Dome floor during the ceremony. However, pictures may be taken after the ceremony. A place will be set up for this purpose.

An official photographer will take pictures of each graduate as they are recognized on the platform. After the commencement ceremony, you will be contacted by the photographer. However, you are under no obligation to purchase the photographs. The ceremony is also videotaped. You may place your order the day of the ceremony at the ticket booth located at the main entrance of the Texan Dome. The cost of the DVD is $15.00.

Invitations

Invitations may be purchased directly from any publishing company you select. SPC does not contract with a publishing company. For information, call the SPC bookstore at 806-894-9611, ext. 2399 or visit the Balfour website at www.balfour.com.

 

Diploma Replacement

Previously awarded diplomas may be replaced by completing and submitting a Diploma Replacement Order Form to:

The replacement fee is $25.

 

CTE Articulated College Credit

Students who wish to receive CTE Articulated College Credit at SPC must complete and submit a CTE Articulated College Credit Application to the address above.
