Accounting Clerk

SUMMARY

The primary function of this job is to assist students with payment of tuition and fees, check attendance for financial aid, and perform accounting functions as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUITES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Accounting Clerk

1.  Answer phones

2.  Check attendance for financial aid students

3.  Perform all duties required of a cashier and serve as backup cashier

4.  Process returned checks as needed

5.  Assist with reconciliation of bank statements as needed

6.  Assist with Outside Sources

7.  Other duties as assigned by the Director of Student Business Services

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High School graduate or equivalent.  Associate Degree preferred.  Previous experience in higher education and accounting is preferred. 

COMPUTER SKILLS

Personal computer skills including knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.  Ability to write reports correspondence, and procedure manuals. 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions, to practical situations including budget preparations.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee is frequently required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision with or without correction.
