Administrative Assistant to the Director of the STAR Center
The Administrative Assistant to the Director of the SSS Grant is responsible for all correspondence, record keeping, preparation of reports, maintaining the participant database, and other administrative and clerical duties as assigned. The Administrative Assistant to the Director of the SSS Grant reports directly to the Director of the SSS Grant.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Prepare reports and disseminate information to participants, staff members, and SouthPlainsCollege faculty and staff.
Provide office management and administrative secretarial support.
Organize and maintain a confidential filing system and database on all participants and activities and services provided.
Assist Director in monitoring inventories, purchase requisitions, trip requests, expense statements, and budget management.
Perform other SSS related duties as assigned.
An A. S. Degree in Secretarial science or related field is preferred; a high school diploma or GED Certificate is required.
At least two years experience working with word processing and data management.
A demonstrated sensitivity to the needs of disadvantaged students.
Have a working knowledge of Microsoft Access programs.
A demonstrated ability to maintain student data and consolidate data into reports.
A background similar to that of the participants.
Fluency in Spanish.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to faculty and other employees of the college.
