Instructor in Fine Arts-Choral

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct Concert Choir
  • Coach chamber music ensembles
  • Maintain choral area budget
  • Actively recruit for choral area and Fine Arts department

Music director for two musicals per calendar year (w/separate compensation)

Classroom instruction – Foundations of Music (traditional and on-line), Aural Theory and Music Appreciation

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Masters Degree required. Prefer doctoral degree in Music with experience in choral conducting, choral music education and musical production. Public school and/or college teaching experience. Piano skills commensurate with duties as described.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write class syllabi, class materials and professional reports. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, supervisors, administrators and the general public.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardizations exist. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

COMPUTER SKILLS

The skill level in this constantly changing field is demanding. Faculty members are expected to take advantage of professional development opportunities so that they will remain up to date on hardware, software, programming languages, and teaching methods.
