Instructor in Fine Arts-Music

SUMMARY

Teach college courses for undergraduate students by performing the following duties.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Classroom Instruction – Teach voice lessons, Music Appreciation, Aural Theory and/or other classes according to applicant’s strengths and experience.

Ability to assist with choir, and/or choral chamber ensembles.

Recruit vocal students for the Fine Arts department.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES MAY INCLUDE

Perform with faculty ensembles, musical productions…

Possible private instruction in area of expertise

Other duties may be assigned by the departmental chair in accordance with the Faculty Handbook

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

Masters Degree required. Prefer doctoral degree in Music or Music Education. At least two (2) years Public School and/or college teaching experience required. Proven success in the classroom, studio and ability to recruit and maintain a studio and/or ensembles.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general collegiate periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, professional correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, faculty, administration, staff, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Consistent with instructional area.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
