Library Technical Assistant
The Library Technical Assistant works seven and a half hours
per day Monday through Friday and is employed for twelve months.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Manages the daily operations of the circulation desk,
including reporting of overdue materials and maintenance of the book stacks.
Charges and discharges all circulating materials including reserved materials.
Places materials on reserve at the request of faculty members.
Registers patrons requesting borrowing privileges.
Helps patrons who are unable to charge out materials because of a “computer block.”
Monitors electronic security system including interacting with patrons who have set off the alarm.
Collects monies and writes receipts for fines and other fees owed.
Answers phone and routes calls when appropriate.
Answers directional questions and refers patrons to librarian when appropriate.
Selects, trains, and supervises student working at the circulation desk including scheduling student work hours.
Assists the Public Services Librarian in other duties as required.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum: High School diploma; good typing skills, good communication skills; microcomputer skills.
Preferred: Associate degree in library technology; library technology; library experience.
