Program Objectives

The Surgical Technology Program provides both didactic and competency-based laboratory and clinical instruction. Students participate in hand-on learning through the use of advanced technology and surgical procedure simulation in the laboratory, followed by clinical experience in the hospital setting. Students gain not only cognitive knowledge and technical skills, but interpersonal skills and multi-cultural understanding which are a vital part of patient care. The program will enable graduates to perform as competent, entry-level Surgical Technologists who are qualified to sit for the Certification exam; and to help satisfy the need for Surgical Technologists in the medical community.
