PHYS 1315 - Intro to Basic Science

Prerequisites:

None.

Purpose of Course:

This is a basic non-laboratory survey course serving to introduce and integrate the fundamental concepts of chemistry, physics, geology, and biology.  This course does not satisfy a laboratory science requirement.

Textbook:

An Introduction to Physical Science, 10th Edition, by Shipman, Wilson, & Todd.

Attendance:

Attendance and effort are the most important activities for success in this course.

Records of your attendance will be maintained.

Whenever absences become excessive and, in the instructor’s opinion, minimum course objectives cannot be met, the instructor may administratively withdraw you from the course with a grade of X or F.  Refer to the General Catalog under Class Attendance and Drops & Withdrawals.

PHYS 1401 - General Physics I

Prerequisites:

Successful completion of Math 1316 or consent of the instructor.

Purpose of Course:

This course is a non-calculus introductory physics course designed to provide students with a background for further study in science and related topics.  Topics include mechanics, heat, and sound.

Textbook:

Physics, Principles with Applications, 6th Edition, by Giancoli.

Attendance:

Attendance and effort are the most important activities for success in this course.
