    Variety of photography classes offered at SPC

    LEVELLAND – South Plains College will offer several photography classes for photo enthusiasts.

    The Nighttime Digital Photography for SLR shooters only. This class will be taught during late evening into the night. Students must have a tripod and shutter release for their cameras. The goal is to paint with light, using long shutter speed to create images and ambient light shooting in super low light. Indoors and outdoors class. The cost is $50 and the class is set for 3 to 10 p.m. on Saturday (April 21) in Levelland and April 28 from 3 to 10 p.m. in Plainview.

    The Studio Digital Photography is for people who have taken advanced digital photography.

    Students will receive instruction in the set up and use of studio lighting including use of strobes and hot lights. They will learn the proper set up and use of added light using strobes, high key and low-key light and shooting with hair and backlight. Participants will shoot portrait as well as product shots and lighting. The cost is $50 and the class is set for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on May 5 in Levelland.

    The Special Problems in Digital Photography Weekend getaway special is set for Saturday and Sunday (April 20-21) in the Garza Hotel in Post. The cost is $150 based on double occupancy of rooms with one or two photographers. It also includes class, room and breakfast. Registration and a reception will be at 5:30 p.m. This class is going to be an overnight get away for friends and couples. Class will be hosted at the Garza Hotel Bed and Breakfast. Students will be taught how to use of studio lighting and natural light, shooting period clothed models that go with the setting. Participants must have taken the advanced digital class to be accepted into this class or obtain instructor approval. The class must be paid in advance with a no refund policy. Space is limited and admission will be based on first come, first registered and paid basis. This will be an indoor and outdoor class.

     The instructor will be Wes Underwood, photographer for South Plains College.
