South Plains College appoints Alexander to fill Board of Regents seat

LEVELLAND – The South Plains College Board of Regents recently appointed Ronny Alexander to serve on the board. Alexander will fill Position 4.

Alexander will be sworn in during a ceremony at the Board of Regent Meeting set for Thursday (June 14). He replaces Charles Miller who retired from the board on March 8. Alexander will hold the position through 2016.

ronny alexander“I feel honored to be asked by the Board to fill Charles’ position,” Alexander said. “I feel very strongly about SPC and the role it plays in the community. I hope I can do my part to help SPC become an even stronger college.”

Alexander grew up in a family of seven boys on a farm outside of Levelland with his parents, Pete and Jo Alexander. He graduated from Levelland High School in 1977 and then he began farming. Alexander married high school sweetheart, Suanne Davis.

In 1978, Alexander went to work at Ag products Inc., a company that was owned by his father-in-law Jim Davis. Alexander was responsible for learning the business side of the business. He said he fell in love with the job and the people he encountered. What was supposed to be a short-term venture has lasted more than 30 years. Alexander recently celebrated 34 years of service with the company.

In 2004, the Alexanders purchased the business. Ag Products celebrated its 40th anniversary in March 2012. Alexander serves as the president.

The Alexanders have two sons, Chad Alexander of Levelland and Chase Alexander of Midland. Chad is a branch president at Aim Bank in Levelland. Chase is a regional manager for Nalco Chemical in Midland. Both sons graduated from South Plains College and Texas Tech University.
